The 93rd season comes to close with a program inspired by folk music from around the world. Featuring the memorable opening roll of the timpani and the arresting proclamation of the piano, Grieg’s Piano Concerto will be played by the talented Alessio Bax. Guest composer Gabriela Lena Frank joins us to share her own work, Apu: Tone Poem for Orchestra, inspired by Peruvian folk music. Continuing with this inspiration is Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra, a powerhouse piece with origins in traditional Hungarian folk music.
